When the UK capital pushed back against the 45th POTUS
On 4 June 2019, the US President brought his brash style of MAGA republicanism to UK shores for an official state visit. However, Trump being Trump, he didn't fail to evoke a strong and visceral sense of opposition to his values and lifestyle. Londoners of all stripes came out in full force to say loud and clear - he was not welcome here!
Protesters gathered in Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square to voice their thoughts on the POTUS. It was just as well that his motorcade was kept far from crowds. But if you were anywhere near Central London that day, you couldn't miss the symphony of boos and the signs peppered with colorful language — complete with a healthy dose of classic British wit!
Capturing history - Photos of London's protest against Donald Trump, 2019
The early twenty-first century was and is like a reality show for global politics — full of drama and unexpected plot twists. With characters like Trump, Putin, the Brexit saga, and the social media circus, the world stage has been buzzing with more heated debates than a family reunion. Despite this, Londoners as a whole are a liberal bunch. The big smoke wears its multi-cultured heart on its sleeve and takes pride in being a melting pot of many languages and cultures from across the world.
So, Is it any surprise that the locals decided to push back? Feast your eyes on this gallery of protest photos I took on that sunny summer day of London's opposition to Donald Trump. The goal? To freeze a moment in time in this incredible city - capturing the essence of what it means to be a Londoner in the 2010s and 2020s.

Looking back at these images, I can see how my skills as an image maker have improved, especially with documentary photography. This protest was one of my maiden voyages into this genre. Back then, it was all about the "point and hope for the best" technique. Nowadays, I'm all about lens choices and capturing the spirit of the way.
Stay tuned for more images from events across the UK capital.
