End your year with a bang and leave your staff feeling good via internal comms campaigns
It’s almost that time of the year again: Christmas and New Year are coming. While the holiday season is mostly about connecting with family, it’s a great time to connect with colleagues too.
In this blog post, I share five ideas to use your intranet and email to boost company culture over the holiday season.

1: Publish galleries from photo competitions
These might include hosting a Christmas jumper day and publishing a gallery of staff in the festive sweaters. If you really want to dial up the cute factor, ask colleagues to submit images of their pets looking seasonal.
Although not related to the day to day job, this approach will generate talking points between colleagues. Thus, boosting moral and forming stronger bonds between teams

2: Publish online interactive quizzes
Encourage staff to visit the internet by presenting a light hearted, fun and digestible quiz. You could ask them questions on major events throughout the year, funny highlights or even details about colleagues to give it that personal touch.
You could even tap into them nostalgic factor and get colleagues to guess festive baby pictures of their teammates.
Create an online leaderboard to generate more talking points. Remember, the funnier, the better.
You could also run a fun poll to ask what's everyone's fave Christmas song or movie.

3: Promote good news stories
Ask colleagues to draft guest blogs or appear in vlogs to detail any important updates or how they made a difference. Be sure to give it a Christmas angle of how you've helped to make the lives of customers / stakeholders better thanks to collective efforts of your organisation.

4: Decorate your intranet
Spread a bit of Christmas cheer by adding some festive touches to your intranet. Try a bit of Snowfall on your home page, add a Santa hat to your logo to get colleagues into the festive spirit.
These little touches will contribute towards staff moral and a happier workplace.

5: Leave staff feeling good
It's important for your staff to feel positive about the previous year and beyond for the one ahead. Draft a personalised message from your CEO to all colleagues to congratulate them on success from the previous year, any amusing moments and how proud he / she is to be leading such a progress focused work force. Remind colleagues that this positive work culture is maintained due to them.
Encourage staff to get the rest they need before wishing them a merry Christmas. Vouchers or bonuses would go down a treat here too.
